This post idea came from a post on a Face Book forum called GMRS Radio Questions and Information. Of course being a GMRS FB forum it is nothing but trolls. I think the original post was to call people out on their opinion and roast them no matter what they say. So in the drama of FB land their is a bit of Ham Purists VS GMRS Purists debate.
What is the "GMRS Linking Issue"?
FCC Regulations: According to the FCC, GMRS stations cannot be directly interconnected with telephone networks or any other network for the purpose of carrying GMRS communications. This includes Internet-based linking.
Clarifications and Updates: The FCC has provided additional clarifications on their website, emphasizing that linking GMRS repeaters via the internet is not allowed.
Enforcement: While the rules are clear, enforcement has been inconsistent. Some GMRS repeater networks have continued to operate linked systems without facing penalties.
Community Response: The GMRS community has had mixed reactions. Some argue that linking enhances communication range and utility, while others stress the importance of adhering to FCC regulations.

What I Posted on FB
Did not get any intelligible feed back. I was treated like a "Karen". If you read you will see that I was not attacking to either side of the issue some GMRS users are having on FB. Yes I do like the drama a little bit. But I feel that my experience with GMRS and my point of view beneficial. I did not attack either side of the coin. I present an intelligible perspective to the drama. My bad I guess.
"This topic should be handled with a bit more etiquette. I am a proud ham. Yes I am a law abiding ham. We get into a large me vs you argument when it becomes a hams vs GMRS issue. It is hard because the many hams that came before GMRS had to study hard and pay more for their license and equipment. Because hams wanted repeater access, and DX capability. They have spent a lot of money. Fast forward to now. 35$ permit fee, and 50 watt GMRS with repeater is $75 and an HT is $30. Yep No Fare! Now I am not hung up on that. The other side of the coin is that well... My mother lives in spot that gets horrible cell phone coverage. She is 77 and lives 10 miles away all alone in a rural area. There is a very powerful GMRS repeater between us. GMRS provides me with peace of mind. For $100 I was able to get her a call sign and a pair of Baofeng GMRS HTs. Now the real issue is linking repeaters in GMRS, that is a tough one to call. We may have to reconsider the role of GMRS. Is it a useful utility in urgent situations? I think it is. The other consideration for long range #GMRS linking is will it be used for crime? Drug dealers, human trafficking, prostitution, organized robbery, international terrorist, etc.... That is why the FCC put so much law into Amateur Radios. The same technology is used to orchestrate war! So you choose "The Blue Pill or the Red Pill" "
